1935.0. "References for hull painting" by A1VAX::RUDY () Fri Sep 25 1992 08:44

    I am looking to have my hull painted (awlgrip) this winter. Looking
    for references on yards to do the work preferably in the Narragansett
    or Buzzards Bay area.

    thanks, Jeff

1935.1BROWNELL DOES GOOD WORKTOLKIN::HILLFri Sep 25 1992 16:0512
    Try Brownell, they are in Mattapoisett. I had my boat repaired there
    after BOB, and think they did a fine job with the AWL-GRIP.

    Visit their Parker St. yard, where they do this kind of work. I am sure
    they would show you around.

    Brownell has been moving my boat to the water from my yard, and back
    again in the fall. In fact when I completed finishing the boat, they
    came and cut it out of the building cradle. I think they do an
    excellent job, very professional.

As the Moderator:

To quote my mother: "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything
at all".

Some time ago, upper Digital management decided that negative comments
about companies, contractors, individuals, etc, are not appropriate and
should not be entered into Digital notes conferences since these
companies, contractors, individuals, etc, are unable to provide their
side of the story. An extremely popular and useful notes conference (not
this one) almost had to be deleted because of complaints and potential
legal action from those criticized. So, if you have a negative
recommendation, please do not enter it in SAILING.

Thank you.
1935.4Parkers Boat YardHYDRA::ALLAFri Oct 02 1992 16:0216
      I would recommend Parkers Boat yard, Cataumet MA, 508-563-9366.

    They did my boat in 1984 with Awlgrip(topsides and deck) and it was
    a very good job. When the boat got scraped up in hurricane Bob
    last year they redid the hull, again a very good job.

    Bob, their Awlgrip person is good, takes pride in his work and when
    the storm wiped out their spray equipment they went with the newest
    gear and the results show.

    Ask for Al Cooke the yard manager or Bruce Parker, tell them I highly
    recommend their work. (they do very good varnish work also and can
    fabricate stantions and pulpit parts if you need them, since most of
    the manufacturers are out of business)
