1926.0. "Help on Outboards" by NZOMIS::DUKE () Mon Sep 14 1992 21:04

   Wanted information on Outboards

    Can someone please help by providing some current US prices (normal
    retail) for 15 hp short shaft outboards.

    Also I remember finding some fuel usage figures in here somewhere but
    now can't find them.

    Thanks in advance

    I can now add some reasons for my request. I have bought a 3.4m
    inflatable and had planned to use the Yamaha 8hp from my Neolex 25
    (25ft Trailer Sailer).
    The 8 goes really well and works well with the inflatable however I
    have a "speedfreak" daughter. The son is rather keen on speed as well.
    I have the chance of someone buying a motor in the US before they
    return soon.

    The NZ cost are: Yamaha 15 NZ$2600 about US$1400
    		     Johnson 15 NZ$2400   about	   US$1310

    Any help appreciated.

    I had a fairly old Honda 7.5 HP for years. It ran well, was very
    reliable, and didn't corrode. So my experience is positive. I also
    acquired a Yamaha 9.9 recently. It was much newer than the Honda. It
    also runs well but the electronic ignition let me down recently. Honda
    outboards are favourites with scuba clubs in the UK.
