Seems I'm having troubles w/motors this year! First the lower end of my Merc 9.8, then dumping the Tohatsu 2.5 in the ocean and now (last weekend) having the "brains" of my '75 Chrysler 9.9 die. Does anyone have some used "brains" for sale for the Chrysler 9.9 (or the Force 9.9 or equivalent)? The rest of the motor has been great all season but at 12:30am this past Saturday in 25 -> 35 knot winds and on a beat the little sucker lost its head; of course my wife was right that I never should have left the mooring at night with my compass lights out - no connection to the motor (and pun intended). I'm also open to buying a replacement motor if the price is right. Regards, Ron ps: I sure hope I don't have to spend the rest of the season like I did last year - putting my little Tohatsu 2.5 on the transom of the Yin Yang and hoping for calm, ie. very calm, waters.

BTW, I think Genny was totally out of line, chewing up those compass lines just because I had her towing our dinghy to shore the previous weekend! What does she think the Divine One had in mind, anyway, when she gave her those webbed feet?

What do you mean "brains" the electronic ignition controller?? You can make another one of those fairly easily if you can't convert the motor to mechanical ignition. (much cheaper to maintain.
1905.3 | yes, an electronic ignition controller | OLDTMR::FRANCEY | M/L&CE SECG dtn 223-5427 pko3-1/d18 | Thu Aug 06 1992 16:40 | 9 |
Yes, the electronic ignition controller. How can I make another one "fairly easily"? Also, how can I convert to mechanical ignition? To me, the electronic ignition controller is a black box. Regards, Ron |
