Hi Folks,

Need some help on Diesel replacement for my Columbia 36 Sailboat. The
original engine was an gasoline engine from the intake blower. I
assume it was an Atomic Four. Don't know the size. It was
replaced with a Vetus M4.14 which is a 35 Hp. four cylinder Diesel
Engine. The block is Mitsubitchi with a Hurst trans.

The repair of the Engine is around $2K +. I have been told by the
Mech. that it really not worth it. He recommends I install a new
engine.

I don't know if the Vetus engine is over or under power. Can I get
some recommendation for a replacement. Are there any Columbia 36
owners on this notes file that can provide me with information on the
the engines and prop combination?

Regards,

Sam

PS. I attended the Tall Ship parade in San Juan. I believe 27 Tall
Ship and about 200 + Sailboat are making there treck to New York and
Boston. Take the time to visit them when they arrive in Boston. It
was well worth the time and effort.
