I am looking for a partner to go in 1/2 on a 24-26 ft weekend
cruiser for sailing in Narragansett Bay and beyond. I won't be able to
use the boat more than a few weekends a year so it does not make
much sense to be the only owner. It would be nice to share costs and
see the boat get more usage. Boats I am currently looking at are 26
Pearson, 26 Bristol, and 25 Cal.

    Anyone interested in a partership?

If so, please call me, Tom Deakins, 297-5831, Home: 508-543-4078,
    or send mail to MR4DEC::DEAKINS.

A word of warning. I tried co-ownership of a boat with a friend about
ten years ago. My error. I wound up making all the payments or
'we' would have lost the boat to the bank. Who gets the boat THIS
weekend? Who pays for this repair? Who pays for that repair? "Oh
we don't need THAT repair, if YOU want to pay for it go ahead" I
think I make my point. Be CAREFUL who you co-own with, it can be
a real trap for both parties.

There are a few notes in here about partnering. I had a good
experience (great actually) but did not have a capital stake in the
boat. I would not want to co-own after this experience but would
consider full ownership and taking on a partner of the reverse. It can
be a good way to defray the expense of sailing as well as spreading out
    the labor.
