| I'm planning on going. It will be big, crowded, loud (Logan +
ciggarettes), and as choppy as all get out. But it will be photo
oportunity No. 1.
I've got all the CG info incluing a special local notice to mariners. I
made reservations a couple of months ago in Scituate (sp) for thurs and
sunday nights (i'm from Wood Hole). We'll try for a nice spot in the
inner harbor fri and Sat.
They are coming through the cannal starting thursday at 11ish.
The one question we havn't answered: How do we choose the crew member
that gets to clean off the anchor after having been oozed into the
bottom of Boston Harbor?
Some phone numbers:

Thanks, Paul,
fyi the public affairs number is disconnected.
The Globe had some achorage area information in the Sunday edition.
Sounds like a first come basis for finding a spot.
The Parade itself sounds like it might be a busy spot for my 19' sloop.
Friends at the New York Parade a couple of years ago spent the better
part of the night fending off power boats. and the restriction against
movement after a certain hour didn't seem to have much relevance
there.
Anyone cruising around the assembly area Friday for a looksee.??

1891.3 | With much caution!! | MELEE::MARINR::DARROW | Warm weather, a cool breeze | Tue Jul 07 1992 18:06 | 16 |
| We thought we would take an early (7:00am) run out of Salem on Saturday
to see what we could see. My understanding is that the 'parade' is to
start about 9:00am, and I thought that though Eagle and some of the
other boats up front would be well into the harbor by 9:00, there would
be enough out in Broad Sound to make quite a site even at some
distance. I have no interest in getting tooo close to the hots shots in
their over powered pleasure palaces.
All this depends on the weather and water conditions.
I'd appreciate a call from any one else planning to be out there on the
northern side of things.

| I expect to be out in Broad Sound on Friday to watch as the ships sail
in to anchor. That seems to me a lot more interesting than watching
them parde with a few token sails and lots of flags flying.
Saturday AM Ill head out again, but then round cape Ann and head for
Boothbay in my new Cape Dory Typhoon- sail #41.

| Ron,
You won't be the only 19 footer out there. I plan to leave Little
Harbor (N.H.) for Orr's Island Me. on Friday a.m. and arrive Saturday.

| After reading all the DECies plans for Op Sail '92 an idea occured to
me....
Could we have all DEC mariners use some type of signaling pennant to
say that they are from Digital? We need an idea for something cheap,
simple and noticeable.

| You could all fly the letter "D" on the rear stay (unless that means
something else in international rules...)
Over here the rear stay is used for regatta flags.
