1870.0. "need Boston daysailing crew" by LEDS::HUNT (Larry Hunt) Mon May 18 1992 16:46

Once again this season (May - Oct), I'll occasionally be needing crew for
daysailing on Boston Harbor. I'd like to get a list of some potential crew
that I can call at times.

It would be sailing on weekends. I sail Solings out of the Boston Harbor
Sailing Club. The boat is a 27' olympic class keel boat which draws 4.5 ft.
Freeboard is about 2 ft. Be forewarned, these boats have no motor and no head.
It can also be a wet sail depending on conditions. It's still a lot of fun in
spite of the above. The boat carries a main, a jib and a spinnaker (if you've
got experience flying a chute, we can take it too). I usually head out about
11:00 am and return about 5:00.

If your interested, send me some mail. Include your availability and a BRIEF
description on your sailing experience just to give me a general idea as
to what your experience is. Then maybe we can hook up for a sail at some
point during the summer.

I sometimes need crew on short notice as well (like the night before or because
of a last minute crew cancellation). If you would be interested on short
notice, and want to include your home phone number, I could call you on those
occasions as well.

    Larry,
Are you still looking for crew? I was taught to sail on Solings about
1978. They are light on comfort but a good boat. I have bareboated
and daysailed everything from Pearson 22s to Morgan OI 41s. Its been
a while since I brought a boat into a mooring or dock under sail
alone, but I find the skills come back very quickly. Most of my
sailing has been on L.I. Sound, the Chesapeake Bay and the Virgin
    Islands.
