| Trouble with spark plugs??? You can't cross match??? Have you tried
Honda for parts?? Marine power plant makers are notorious for cutting
off support after 7-10 years.

1799.2 | it must be replaced | VAXRIO::FERNANDO | | Fri Oct 25 1991 10:44 | 18 |

In fact last time I've bought 6 sparks to avoid any outage. But
the real problem is that it must be replaced before stops for
ever. Someone told me that there is a Johnson inboard engine
that could be used, but I could not find yet. Diesel engines are
very heavy of the size of my boat, if you compare my engine for
instance is 10HP and weighs 30kg and a diesel one with the same
10HP weighs 130kg.
Any way I'll keep looking to find out, if nothing happen I'll
use an ordinary outboard one and use the current engine space
a new oven !
Thanks any way.
Fernando.

I can still buy spark plugs for my 1909 Grey Marine. And all carburetor
parts are also still available. :-)

Thanks Ron, I'll try a new carburator.
Do you have the fax or their phone number that I could
check the availability of the parts ??

| Carbs and plugs are generally not manufactured by the powerplant
maker. Champion, Tillotson etc.. Try and get a casting for a 1955
Johnson or a propshaft half/casting for my 1946 Evinrude. The guy
at OMC was still laughing when I got pissed off and hung up, "you
want what??". I wound up carving a piece of wood to replace the
missing piece, glueing it to the broken casting and sand casted
a new part. Then spent a couple of weeks machining the thing,
and hand turning a new bushing and seal relief. A PAIN in the butt
to be sure but that blazing dynamo of marine horsepower (1.1) still
does a nice job of blasting my canoe along at warp speed ( 3-4 knts
FULL throttle). Only cost $20 at a yard sale too. Just wish I could
buy instaed of making parts...

following features:
-Inboard gasoline engine
-14HP
-2 stroke
-65Amp generator
-eletric starter with remote key
-neutral/front/rear with remote controls
-design for 20 to 26' sailboats
Does anybody can confirm this information ???

1799.7 | <<THE HAPPY END>> | VAXRIO::FERNANDO | | Tue Jan 19 1993 14:30 | 12 |
| Hi sailors,
This is the happy end:
I've installed an outboard engine Honda 15HP (eletric starter
and everthing as options) inboard. That's rigth, an outboard
installed inboard. I've ran 35 hours already and works perfectly
well.
Thanks for the tips and answers. Good winds.
Fernando
