1774.1 | Count elysium in for the weekend of Sept7/8 | MARX::CARTER | | Wed Aug 14 1991 12:09 | 13 |
| Aw gee Paul, you beat me to this topic. How'd that happen?
Weekend after Labor Day sounds good to me.
As for food, last time it was each boat for itself, since nobody was
entirely sure who was going to get there, or when. Some boats had left
before I got there, some arrived long after I did.
elysium'll be there,

1774.2 | In favor of a get together but--- | HPSRAD::HOWARTH | | Wed Aug 14 1991 15:59 | 18 |
| The idea of a get together is great but personally, I
have a problem if I have to use my boat. I keep my boat in
Fairhaven (New Bedford Harbor) and sailing it to and from Misery
is quite a trip; at least 2, 15 hour days if the currents are right.
If folks planned to meet any place in Buzzard's Bay, those who keep
their boats in the Marblehead area would be faced with similar
travel problems. Also, the week after Labor Day is when the Newport
Boat Show is scheduled. Are there other people in the Buzzard's
Bay area that have the same problem?
I have not been to a previous get together but I would enjoy meeting
those who share this conference. A meeting place located on land
would be better for me.
My comments --

If we haven't sold the boat (and that seems increasingly likely), we'll
show up, but will be flying L'eggs from the shrouds instead.

1774.4 | I like the water better than land. | AV8OR::SAMPSON | Driven by the wind | Thu Aug 15 1991 21:59 | 10 |
| Yah, I'm in Buzzards Bay too, Mattapoisett. If there were something
like this going on close to me I'd go. The weekend afet Mem. day I'm
on call, but if it's nice weather I'll still sail (just not over
night). B.Bay has some great spots too like Hadley's (where I've spent
a lot of time this year), Tarpaulin Cove in Vinyard sound or any of the
small coves along Nashon if the wind is right.
If it's in the Bay I'll sail over that way, but Marblehead is a bit
of a long trip in a 22'er.

I'm also from the Buzzards bay area too, West Island. And if other
sailors want to meet up some where in the area I'd be iterested
in going.

1774.6 | Where is Misery Is. | CX3PST::WSC134::L_BRODEUR | | Fri Aug 16 1991 14:40 | 5 |
| Living in Colorado, I would have a long trip to get my boat there. I will be
back east on vacation during that time. Anyone need a crew member? Out of
curiosity, where is Misery Is.?

| This Colorado sailor will be close, but not quite close enough to attend.
We will be sailing the Hudson River near Troy that weekend. We are crusing
Lake Champlain, Hudson River and the western half of Long Island Sound.

1774.8 | Probably Manchester-by-the-sea, Massachusetts | MARX::CARTER | | Tue Aug 20 1991 18:01 | 5 |
| In answer to the where is question, Misery Island is at the north east
end of Salem Sound. Probably officially part of Manchester-by-the-sea,
in Massachusetts.

1774.9 | Proposal to tube the proposal... | WONDER::BRODEUR | | Mon Aug 26 1991 13:45 | 10 |
| Seeing as there hasn't been much of a response from the north shore
gang AND the fact that my boat may still not be sailable by that time
(thanks Bob...) I suggest we tube this party proposal till a better
time. Maybe sometime in the spring/early summer next year and we can
trade horror stories of all the work we did over the winter.
A winter get together like we did last year in Boxboro would be a
nice idea again though!

1774.10 | Boxboro in the winter | HPSRAD::HOWARTH | | Mon Aug 26 1991 16:32 | 7 |
| If you are conducting a pole, I cast my vote for Boxboro. As I
mentioned in an earlier reply, anything on the water will be a
problem to some one because of the distances involved. Now, the
problem is exacerbated by the recent storm. Maybe some time after
the start of winter will be appealing to most people.

1774.11 | Sherton Boxboro 'Apre Sail' | MEMORY::LAZGIN | | Mon Nov 18 1991 15:48 | 14 |
| I'd be glad to organize the 'second annual' Boxboro Bash, at the
Sherton in Boxboro!
What weeks would be a good time. After Thanksgiving and Before
Christmas is usually busy, but we could have the party the week
of DECEMBER 9 maybe on Wednesday.
Otherwise we should go to after New Years.
Please Cast your votes, I'll make the final Decision and post
THE DATE.

1774.12 | My vote is for after the holidays | HPSRAD::HOWARTH | | Mon Nov 18 1991 16:51 | 10 |
| re: .11
Frank,
I am looking forward to meeting others that share this note file
and your offer to organize a "bash" in Boxboro is good news!
The best time for me is after the holidays because there is so
much happening between now and the end of the year.

Dam Frank, I just spent 5 minutes writing up MY proposal to do the
same!!!! Should have read the new notes first.
Sounds great to me. Wed Dec 11 or Thur the 12th is fine with my
schedule.
NOTE: It is no longer the Sheraton Boxboro. Its had a name change
and redesign of our meeting room. Now called the Boxboro Host Hotel.
Still in the same place off Rt 111 at the intersection of Rt 495.
Don't even think of Fri night there. Too much of a zoo!

for immediately after the new year.

JANuary's better for me too. Between DECUS, XMAS party's and XMAS
shopping, i'll be a VERY busy girl!!!
Frank,
You mite have an easier time booking a room then too.

1774.18 | another January vote | MARX::CARTER | | Wed Nov 27 1991 14:41 | 12 |
| Frank,
January is better for me.
Week day nights are better than weekend
nights, and probably easier to book, and following Paul's advise, less
of a zoo.
At least 'til we get there.
