1767.0. "Looking for a day of sailing" by VMSDEV::RTHOMSON (Robert Thomson, VMS Verification Group, 381-1556) Mon Jul 29 1991 13:45

My engineering group at ZKO is interested in spending a weekday in
September sailing. The group consists of 12-14 persons, primarily
non-sailers. Our hope was to find one or two boats large enough to
accomodate us all whose captain(s) would put us to work as the crew.
We would be looking to sail somewhere located within a 2 hour drive
    from Nashua, NH.

So far, I have contacted the Boston Sailing Center and Boston Harbor
Sailing. Although both have boats and instructors available to take us
out, the cost is somewhat steep. Can someone suggest another
    alternative?

You could all go together on the Appledore III (56') out of Rockport, MA
(within your 2-hour radius.) It's a former circumnavigating schooner,
and well run and handled, I understand. For info call 508-546-9876.
I'm sure they'd let you take the helm and hand the lines.

    Another Appledore...

Schooner Appledore, a 60' LOA wooden staysail designed by Bud McIntosh,
sails out of Portsmouth, NH. I believe she is the last schooner to
    be built in Portsmouth.

Call Rick Bates for more info....603-433-6107 eve.
