1741.0. "Want info on 'octoplait'" by XAPPL::FANEUF () Fri Jun 14 1991 11:16

Can anyone tell me what octoplait is, and why (or why not) it's good stuff?
I saw the term in Pete Gough's 1730.5, and am guessing it describes a kind
of anchor rode I've seen once, which is rope with a sort of chain-like
appearance. Am I close? What's up?

    Octoplait comes in a variety of sizes, it it 8 polyester strands woven
    together.

    A good cheap , well it is all relative!, is Jimmy Green Marine in Beer
    in Devon U.K. They do mail order and I can send more info from mid
    July onwards. I go on leave at the end of this week for three weeks, my
    annual cruise......

    It is advertised for :
    			Mooring warps
    			Anchor Warps

    It is very strong, has elasticity, is very flexible. I have towed less
    fortuntate craft with it. I also use it on my kedge. On CIRCE I had it
    bent on ,it splices nicely onto chain, to my main anchor. On MELTEMI I
    have enough chain for the areas I cruise in.
