Can anyonce comment on the asking price for the following boat? Asking $29,500 Sabre 28 1977 Volvo Diesel 2 cyl, fresh water cooled, "overhauled 1985" depth sounder knot meter 5 sails Awlgrip last year furler dodger lectrasan head no dinghy no pressure water I haven't seen the boat yet, so I don't know the condition. From conversation with the broker, I am lead to believe that the boat is in very good condition.

1726.1 | Sabre 28 $$$ in the ballpark | WONDER::BRODEUR | Thu May 30 1991 13:19 | 16
Since I spent a good deal of last summer looking at boats, and the Sabre 28 being high on my list, it seems like this is in the ballpark asking price. Course these days, an asking price is just that. What you end up handing out may be very different. I am not familiar with the two previous boats you had mentioned but do know the Sabre. Might I suggest that you also take a peek at the Tartan 30 (which is what I ended up with and am VERY pleased...). Yes, its not (quite) a Sabre, but IS a very solid boat, more interior room than the Sabre, sails well, and is quick for her vintage. You can get a T30 in good shape for 22-25K. I also just got the "Practical Sailor Used Boat Survey" on the T30 and pretty much agreed with what what said. If your interested I could mail you a copy... Most (if not all) T30's will have an Atomic four so if gas scares you..... Paul

yes, gas scares me. Incidentally, there are two Sabre 28's for sale with Atomic 4's. The boats are '74 and '77, and they are asking around $24K. --RS |
