The "South Pacific" covers a big area. French Polynesia includes the
Society Islands is made up of Tahiti as well as Bora Bora etc. For a
bare-boat charter, Moorings has a fleet at Raiatea. This location
allows access to Taha (which is contained with Raiatea in a single
reef), Huahine (a very rustic Island with little tourists) and Bore
Bora. I had my own boat here in '86 and to my knowledge Moorings will
not allow the over night passage to Tahiti - but what the heck, you
have enough here (with these Islands in sight of one another) to spend
months and months and still miss it all.
Moorings also has a fleet in the Kingdom of Tonga - I would suggest
that you contact this charter company for details.
