I heard a lot about it--I was reading wire service copy at DECworld
that day. The initial reports said 12 of 14 members of a fishing-boat
crew were mutinying, and the skipper and first mate were locked in the
wheelhouse and fearing for their lives. Coast Guard went out and
boarded, brought the boat in, and the captain and first mate refused to
press charges. It seemed from the news reports that the "mutiny" was
more like the crew having had enough of an abusive boss.

| I saw the news report a couple of weeks ago. From what they reported
it would seem the reason for the "mutiny" was that there was a minor
on board (14 yrs or so) who got sick. The crew wanted to go home and
the captain refused. So they took over the boat and headed home. The
captain locked himself in his cabin and issued a "mayday". When the
coast guard responded he said there was a mutiny in progress and that
the crew had threatened him with knives. The CG responded, boarded,
and escorted the boat into port. Later, the crew denied ever
threatening the captain with knives and he refused to press charges.
I got the distinct impression that this boiled down to a conflict of
interest; the crew was interested in the kid's welfare and the captain
was interested in catching fish.
