Recently, I found a "King 8001" loran at a tag sale for
almost nothing. Unfortunately, the seller had no info about
it (said he got it in a lot that he had himself purchased).
The manufacture is King Marine Corp and thatis about all I
know about it except that it does show where it thinks it was
last ( Naragansette Bay ). Unfortunately, it is missing a
coupler and directions. Therefore, if someone out there has
this type of loran would they please photocopy the instructions
and send them to me by interoffice mail. I work in the Enfield,
Ct plant (ENO).
As far as a coupler goes, I guess I will have to get that
from the manufacturer however they want 95.00 $ for it so I'll
want to be real sure it works first. Anyone know how I can do
this without the coupler?

Jeff Gardiner (ASDS::GARDINER) has a King LORAN on "Tranquility". He's on his
way back from Bermuda right now. He'll be back in Boston in about a week.

I have the same model and really like it. I lost my instruction
booklets and owner's manual in hurricane Hugo on St. Croix and will be
contacting King Marine ( they are in Florida) to get new copies. Do
you want me order extra copies for you??

Thank you for your offer, but another noter is sending me a set of
spare instructions he has by Interoffice Mail. This person also has
a spare coupler which he has offered to sell me. So far, I'm not sure
mine works and am anxiously awaiting the instructions to see if I
should spend any money on the unit.
I am glad to hear that you like yours and hope I can use you as a
resource if I need any further infomation.
