1474.0. "Gary Jobson Lecture" by STEREO::HO () Fri Apr 06 1990 09:45

    Gary Jobson will give a slide show on Tuesday, April 17 at 7:30 in the
    Marblehead High School auditorium on the Whitbread and other topics of
    interest. Tickets are $5.00 at the door. Proceeds go to the olympic
    sailing team (or some such other worthy endeavor).

    I've been to few of Gary's lectures and they're usually pretty
    interesting. Anyway, it's cheaper than seeing the teenage mutant ninja
    turtles movie.

    The high school is on rt 114 across the street from the Marblehead fire
    station.

1474.1Been planning on it!21002::DJOHNSTONFri Apr 06 1990 14:165
    The brochure lists Whitbread highlights, a bloopers video, Americas Cup
    update and insight as well as Olympic Class highlights. I'll be there
    as well as a good part of our crew.

1474.4Jobson reviewAKOV12::DJOHNSTONWed Apr 18 1990 08:5110
    There was a good sized turnout for the Jobson lecture last night. The
    part about Endeavor was very good. He had footage from the '88
    Olympics when it was blowing 25-30 with 8 foot seas that was
    incredible. The Whitbread stuff was a short version of what is
    regularly on ESPN.

    Gary's become a much better public speaker in recent times. I enjoyed
    it a lot.

1474.5It was good!MARINR::DARROWThe wind is music to my earsThu Apr 19 1990 18:3611
    Many thanks Gene and Dave for alerting us.

    Donna and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves Tuesday night.

    I can see where you feel that Gary has improved, I thought he did a
    great job and you don't get there overnight. His admiration of
    Capt Ted Turner is as obvious as his disdain for the 'Yachtsman'
    owner of the 'Trump Princess'.
