1458.0. "AIRES VANE REPAIR STATION?" by APACHE::HOLZER () Thu Mar 15 1990 17:26
I just removed my Aires vane for service. It came with the boat
and worked quite well for several years. I discovered this past summer
that the servo rudder wouldn't lower due to a seized spring collar.
Also, the winged bolt that allows removal of the lower section appears
to be melded with its hole.
The nylon bushing appear to be aged by the sun and it appears
that the stainless rod they reside on is held in by a press fit.
Originally, I was going to operate on all this myself, but
the degree of corrosion on some of these parts and the press fit on others
indicates that it might be out of my league.
Does anyone know of an Aires repair station in the eastern US?
