1426.0. "Where can I buy sail tape ?" by FXNBS::THOMPSON () Fri Jan 12 1990 14:58
I'm using a double stick tape, to make kites, which I buy from a
sail maker in R.I.. The sail maker refers to the tape as "Seam Stick". The
tape has a clear flexible rubbery type carrier with a clear adhesive on both
sides. The sail maker also said it is an acrylic tape. The tape comes in many
widths an is used to seam (put together) the sail before sewing. The tape gets
sewn in and becomes part of the sail (seam). I have used this tape to
assemble kites made from Ripstop Nylon and have actually flow same without
sewing.
I would like to buy this tape from the supplier, in bulk, and don't feel
comfortable about asking the sail maker where he gets the tape. Does anyone
have any knowledge of this tape ? Where can I buy it ? Any suggestions ?
Thanks,
Bill

| Howe and Bainbridge in Boston may have it. I don't have the telephone
number at hand but they're in the Boston phone book. They're a supplier
of sailcloth and sailmaking supplies.
