I am interested in having my spinnaker pole stripped and anodized over the winter. Any recommendations of vendors in the eastern Mass. or Rhode Island area for doing the job? About how much should I expect a job like this to cost? As always, thanks for you input, Carl

The last time I broke my pole I made some phone calls to outfits in the Boston yellow pages. Costs were something like under $2/ft for a 10 ft pole with a $50 minimum charge. Since the section only cost about $20 or so, it didn't seem worth it. Especially since I'd probably drop it overboard or break it before it rusted out anyway. I did, however, put some wax on it and it seems to be holding up OK. If the pole is a good one, anodizing is the way to go. Much prettier and tougher than paint. - gene |
