1379.0. "Carribean vacation" by ISLNDS::BURNHAM (JACK BURNHAM) Wed Oct 25 1989 09:57

    My wife and I are planning to vacation in the Carribean this Spring
    and would like to do so onboard a sailboat. Our thoughts are to
    find a crewed vessel that will sail island to island. Also, looking
    to find a resort hotel at the end for a day or so. Has anyone out
    there done this? What would you recommend? What is the nominal cost?
    Also, I was reading the August Sailing magazine and "the Moorings"
    had an ad that looked pretty close to what we are looking for. Has
    anyone had any experience with this group?

    Lots of information is available in 397.*

1379.2Many notes on the topicSTAR::KENNEYWed Oct 25 1989 11:5514
    	To expaned on .1 check out notes 178, 397, 689, 905, 917, 1038.  Of
    These 397 probably has the most information. Do you know where in the
    carribean, when, and about how much you want to spend.

    	Your options vary widely. For the sailing part you have several
    options bareboat you do all the work, fully crewed most money least
    work, also some companies offer a day time skipper only. In this case
    the skipper shows up in the morning and off you go. The skipper leaves
    the boat in the evening and you are alone.

1379.3Check a charter broker ICHI::MCBRIDEFri Oct 27 1989 10:249
    Call a charter broker, they can help you with crewed yacht selection.
    It is going to be expen$ive though from what I have seen. The land/sea
    vacations are fairly popular and several outfits offer packages. The
    Bitter End, Moorings (Club Mariner) are two that come to mind. For
    bareboat information, 397.* is the place to be.
