I am in the market for a pair of Lewmar 40 twin speed winches
prefferably self tailing anyone with second hand by any chance?
Are there any equivalents in the USA? Could someone there advise
me on the best mail order dealer? Even though I live in Ireland
pick up in the Boston area can be arranged. Are Barients more easily
obtained in the US?
Any info will be appreciated.

I do not know about the Boston area, but there is a store in Annapolis
called Bacon's that sells 'stuff' on consignment. I have seen winches
in the store although their primary business seems to be used sails.

West Marine Products, in the past two years or so, has gained
a reputation as a top quality mail order marine supply business.
In their catalogue, Lewmar 40A winches are sold for $399.00 plus
shipping. They state the list price as $555.00. The 40C model
sells for $414.00. Both seem to have the same dimensions, etc.
Barient model 21 winches are listed in the same catalogue for
between $342.00 and $357.00.
