The current issue of "Wooden Boat" (sept/oct 89 pg 35) notes that the
following agencies are against the dumping of plastic at sea. Clearly
this well thought out program should eliminate the manufacture and launching
of fiberglass boats which is really the major source of plastic that has been
dumped in waterways and oceans. The agencies named in the article are
U.S. Dept of Transportation
Maine Dept of Marine Resources
National Marine Fisheries Resources
They are even gaining support from the Society of Plastic Industry.
I hope that none of the "sailors" in Digital have been party to this
mischief and have wisely insisted on wooden boats.
