| Does B78x13 correspond to 650x13? In any case, the Northern Hydraulics catalog
lists a 13" wheel/tire combo for $58.99. The catalog does not list the tire
separately, but a phone call wouldn't cost you anything. The item number for
the combo in the spring/summer catalog is #12121. Their number is
1-800-533-5545.
The listing also mentions a 1150lb load range, overall 24" diameter, and 5
hole, 4 1/2" dia bolt circle.

1230.2 | 78 tire is wider | VIDEO::HELLMAN | | Fri Jun 09 1989 15:10 | 6 |
| Thanks for the response. As it happens, I just ordered trailer
parts from Northern Hydraulics. They seem to be the cheapest around
for trailer items. The B78X13 is a wider tire than mine, but I
may be forced to buy a pair and replace both tires on the trailer.
So it goes.

THis size tire( 6.50x13) is the same size i used to have on my old
Dart-they were not a popular size- even when the car was realtively
new, I never found them on sale and ussually had to order them. THe B78
13 is a hair smaller and the C78x 13 is a hair larger. Trailer tires
are much heavier and stiffer than car tires of the same size- If you
can't get trailer tires in the size you need, DON"T use auto tires!
A blowout a 50-60 mph towing a boat is an experience you are unlikely
to forget- and you won't particularly enjoy cleaning up the car either!
Another possible Source of trailer tires is J.C. Whitney- the
automaotive catalog- I don't have mine handy but you wshould be able to
get it from the CATALOGS notesfile.
If you check with a tire dealer, I think you will find that the
replacement for a 6.50x 13 tire is a C78-13. I don't know what the new
sizes are, but. since itr is a straight conversion from inches to
mm. 6.50 ( tire widthe in inches) x 25.4 ( conversion factor)=
165.1 ( mm) or , the current standard would be 165R 75 13.
I would suggest that you look at the "LT" ( Light truck) tires- that is
what came as standard on my brand new 4 whl trailer. truck tires are
heavier, ususlally have more plies, and run at higher pressures and
higher load ratings than car tires. I would think that 165R75 13 LT
or 175R75 13 LT tires should do just fine on your trailer.

Wow, that really answers a few tire questions that I had. Thanks.
Do you think, though, that if I replace my bad tire with a new light
truck tire that I should replace both (the other one's in ok, but
not terrific, shape).
