1213.0. "Dry Ice?" by HYDRA::SCHUMANN (waiting for FY90...) Sun May 21 1989 22:39

We're going to Bermuda in June and we are considering taking along
dry ice in some form. Does anybody out there have experience with dry ice?
What works, what doesn't?

    As you understand dry ice is VERY COLD and you should keep it away
    from your veggies and also glass containers. We used it to prolong
    the life of our normal ice supply durning a summer cruise from Ct.
    to Va. and it was very effective. Put about 50 lbs in the bottome
    of the ice box followed by things you want to keep frozen, like
    meat, follow that with regular block ice and food.
    The dry ice kept our normal 250 lbs almost the whole three weeks.
    Of course the dry ice didn't last this long.
    A note of caution DON"T TOUCH IT it will flash freeze you just like
    the vegetables. GLOVES OR ICE TONGS ONLY.
