Does anyone know of a bare boat charterer in the Halifax, Nova Scotia area? I will be up there in late August and would like a 38-45 foot sailboat for about 7-9 days. I seem to be having a great deal of difficulty in finding a charter company or individual who can fulfill my request. Any suggestions??

There probably aren't (m)any charter companies in those parts, as the season is too short to get much return, and the risks associated with so much fog, current, and relatively sparse logistical and safety support are much greater than further south. Try John G. Alden in Boston (Commercial Wharf); they seem to have an extensive list of yachts for charter all over the world. While most are crewed, they might have information on a bareboat or two there. If not, they may have further insight into your chances and where best to look next. J. |
