1151.0. "Constitution Museum needs help" by 25806::GINGER (Ron Ginger) Thu Mar 16 1989 17:18

The Constitution Museum has an exhibit with 5 Apple II's, that provides a
simulation of a trip on Old Ironsides. The player gets to make choices as
the captain. Actual excerpts from the Log Books are used as the data.

This has been their most popular exhibit, but after 8 years the Apples
are in bad shape, and the original volunteer that put it together has gone
on to other things. Ive been helping out, and have 2 of the 5 units working.

The Museum is writing a proposal to DEC for a donation of equipment to build
a new exhibit. They have some neat plans to improve the display, more data
from Logs, and a couple new simulation ideas. I think their proposal would have
a better chance of getting DEC support if we had a few DEC volunteers that were
ready to help implement the system.

Any SAILING readers out there that want to help the Museum? As usual with
museum projects, there is no money in this, just the chance to get behind the
display, ahve some fun, and create something to help educate the public.

1151.1How can I help?CHRCHL::GERMAINDown to the Sea in Ships.Fri Mar 17 1989 09:1213
Ron,

I'd love to help. I have lots of reading knowledge about the history
of the ship. What can I do? Do we have to work on site? I have a
Vaxstation II GPX in my office, and I'll be getting a 3500 color
    machine soon.

Let me know how I can help.

		Thanks,

			Gregg
