1039.0. "Mooring Exchange?" by HPTP27::SCHLESS () Mon Nov 07 1988 14:41

Does anyone have an interest in having a mooring/slip exchange
for next summer? It would be a great opportunity
for the cruising sailors to spend weekends going one way,
rather than making the second day a mad dash home every weekend.

As envisioned, we would set one note up.
Entries would be expressly advertising a mooring/slip available
for a period (keyword = AVAIL), or needed (keyword = WANT) for
a period (a week would probably be a good period to keep it simple).
All offers should be strictly on a loaner (versus
rental) basis, to cover liability. Each offer should
state: 1. maximum draft at mooring
            2. general sheltering
            3. Size of boat permanently on mooring.
            4. Dispacement of boat permanently moored
            5. Any restrictions for tying up (clubs, etc)
            6. Any restrictions for entrance/exit from facility
               (bridges, breakwaters, etc).
            7. Date mooring will be available
            8. Name and dtn of contact
            9. Location of mooring

A week is a long time. I would think weekends might be a better
    time frame to use.

Along this line, if anyone is planning a cruise to The Chesapeake,
I have a slip in the mid bay area on the Piankatank River and one
in Norfolk. One is usually empty and both carry over 6feet at MLW.

.1 HAS A GOOD POINT..In general, if you are nterested in using the
Notes file to exchange slips for general cruising, put when
the slip/mooring will be available for whatever period, and
    people can respond to it.

1039.4Trade Mooring in Buzzards Bay?36392::BEAUThu Nov 09 1989 11:3220
It looks like I'll have a mooring available for exchange
next summer in Padanaram (west end of Buzzrds Bay, near
New Bedford.). It's in a sheltered cove, in around
6 feet of water, and accessible throughout the day (its
behind a bridge, which is closed some hours).

Concordia yachts is in the barbor, as well as the N. Bedford
yacht club (for you clubbies). There are good and reasonable
restaurants (alas, not both at once!)

I'm looking for trades around Buzzards Bay and Cape Cod
Bay, where we can trade for a week at a time (leave one
weekend for the trade, then return the next weekend).
Alternatively, we can talk about overnights.

This is an extra mooring, so if there is no interest I'll
    pull it for the summer.
