I was wondering if any of you folks out in sailboat land could help with some info and/or opinions. I just feel in love this weekend, and I need some advice. She's a SEAFARER 26, darkgreen, build in 1982. She has everything a first time boat owner wants or need for enjoying weekends away from it all. And the price is just about what I can aford, ok so maybe just a little more. The question is, does any one have a knowledge of this type of vessel (good or bad). I am looking forward to your answers. thanks

Seafarer 26...designed by McCurdy & Rhodes. Produced by several plants in the U.S., most came from NY. Back when I was the only yacht broker that my wife trusted I sold several of them. They were "price" boats but were built with a fairly high level of structural quality. I don't recall any that flunked survey. Quite basic below with somewhat plastic interior. Most were powered by an inbd Yanmar dsl...some were outboard. What's the asking price?

Seems a little on the high side...I assume that it's inbd dsl powered and for that price must have a ton of extras and a super sail inventory. Still sounds high.

Our first sailboat was a Seafarer 26, and we loved it so much, that we have since traded up to a Seafarer 30!. We looked at other boats, but kept coming back to the Seafarer. The factory used to be located in Huntington Long Island, but I believe that they are now in Mexico. Good Luck! |
