See note 952.* for some discussion about lightning protection. 952.5 says
that through-hull fittings have been blown out by a lightning strike!

994.2 | you MUST have zincs | LAGUNA::MILLMAN_JA | I'D RATHER BE CRUISING | Wed Sep 28 1988 14:51 | 5 |
| You must repeat MUST have zincs. Either attach a zinc plate to
the hul or take a zinc plate with a heavy gauge wire attached to
it on one end and a clip on the other end which is attached to your
grounding system. This can be taken off while sailing.

994.3 | try a zinc cone on the shaft | RAINBO::BURR | | Fri Oct 07 1988 18:24 | 9 |
| Your marine supply house can sell you a cone shaped zinc which will
fit over the bolts which hold the prop on your propellor shaft.
If you are going to keep the boat in salt water it is essential
that you have zincs. The first thing to go will be the wiring
throughout your boat, closely followed by the zinc leaching out
of the bronze in your through-hulls. You won't necessarily be able
to see a problem (pitting, etc.) until one of you through-hulls
lets go!
