991.1 | Clogged vent?? | EMASS::SAFDIE | | Mon Sep 26 1988 10:36 | 5 |

Could the vent on the 6 gallon can be clogged? You might try running
it with the cover on the can off and see if it goes away. Just a
guess but easy enough to try.

991.2 | fuel not flowing freely | CADSYS::SCHUMANN | | Mon Sep 26 1988 12:42 | 8 |
| This symptom is typical of problems in the liquid portion of the fuel
system. It could be caused by anything that inhibits the free flow
of fuel from the tank to the engine. Typical culprits are:
closed or clogged vent, clogged fuel filter and/or strainer,
kink in fuel hose, etc.

991.3 | water | HAEXLI::PMAIER | | Mon Sep 26 1988 13:10 | 19 |

1) Water (assuming your engine is a diesel )
You say,you refilled your tank a few weeks ago. You got some water and
this water is now in the prefilter (or fine filter on some models)
just in front of the injectionpump.
You better check immediatly, otherwise your injectionpump and injectors
have to be replaced.Due to the high pressure used in the injection
there is now lubrication possible except the dieselfuel.If this diesel
fuel is replaced by water......

991.4 | AIR IN LINES ? | WILVAX::LANE | | Mon Sep 26 1988 13:38 | 5 |
| I'VE HAD THIS PROBLEM DUE TO AIR IN FUEL LINE. OPEN BLEEDER
SCREW ON FUEL FILTER WITH ENGINE RUNNING OR AT LEAST CRANKING.
CLOSE WHEN FUEL RATHER THAN AIR IS COMING FROM BLEEDER.

991.6 | No Go! | HPTP27::SCHLESS | | Mon Oct 03 1988 10:17 | 10 |
| I tried the tank vent, and the fuel line, to no avail. The
boat gets yanked in a couple of weeks, so I think I'll give
up until I get her onto dry land. Too bad, we missed the most
glorious day of the season on BB yesterday!
See y'all next season!

991.7 | Knowledgeable Westerbeke Vire Owner, finally! | HPTP27::SCHLESS | | Mon Oct 31 1988 08:40 | 14 |
| I now count myself as one of the bruised knuckle "experts"
on the Westerbeke, if anyone is having problems. Over the
past two weekends I have pretty well disassembled mine, and
(remembering I had not drained the saltwater from the cooling)
reassembled it, and, lo and behold...it ran!
Anyone needing help on a Westerbeke Vire??
By the way, the original problem was an air leak in the flexible
gas line coming from the copper into the bottom of the carb.
