965.0. "Crew Needed for Buzzards Bay" by VLNVAX::FRENIERE () Wed Aug 31 1988 15:44

Looking for one or more duffers with some experience in sailing.
My wife, a nurse, works alternate weekends so I sail everyother
weekend, beginning Sept 8,9,10, right thru November.

Boat is a 34 ft wood Alden cutter. It is either at the slip in
Riverside, RI (south of Providence) , on a mooring in Bristol
or riding on the hook off Ida Lewis in Newport.

Like to spend as many hours a day sailing as is possible. I tend
to be a conservative skipper. Don't mind getting caught in a
lousey chop on Buzzards bay, or getting caught in thick fog, but
I probably won't start out just to get slammed around or when
I can't see my bow. Got a lot of experience with fog in Buzzards
Bay this summer for sure!!!! Really learned to trust the compass
    and fathometer !!!!!

I single-hand it but most pleasure comes from working crew of
three, a helmsman, sheet handler and foredeckman. If you are
available for any day or weekend as noted above, you would need
foul weather gear, a sleeping bag, and be willing to turn to with
    out being asked.

Repeat.. I tend to be conservative. Having the rail under just for
the sake of it, with no increase in speed over the bottom is not
my style. So if you would like to cruise and enjoy working sail
and helm to find what drives her best.... get in touch via my node.

Yes. I'm interested. Lets talk. I've sailed smail boats for a
number of years and have taught some sailing courses. I would like
to do more ocean/bay sailing. I have a 10 year old Little Brother
that I would like to bring once or twice.
