I recently picked up my CL 16 sailboat and am looking for some good lakes in the eastern Massachusetts area to sail. I need to find some lakes that are: 1. Good for a novice to learn on & 2. Has easy access for a boat trailer All suggestions are appreciated. Bill Lampros

Try Indian Lake in Worcester. It is near the intersection of I-290 and I-190. The boat ramp is on Rt. 122A. The main sailing area is about mile square. Winds are moderate. Average depth is 10 feet. Water is reasonably clean and reasonably weed free. There are usually a number of sailboards and catamarans around and you might see me out in my Saroca (I live on the island). Have a GREAT day! YOU COULD TRY LAKE COCHITUATE. THERE'S A STATE RUN RAMP OFF RTE.30 IN FRAMINGHAM. LOT'S OF SKI BOATS. ALSO, HOPKINTON STATE PARK HAS EXCELLENT RAMPS/DOCKS. CONSISTENT BREEZE, LOTS OF WINDSURFERS, NO POWER BOATS USUALLY. BOTH OF ABOVE ARE CONVENIENT BUT SMALL SIZE WILL GET TO YOU AFTER A FEW TIMES. WANT ANY HELP ? | |||||

You can go to Quinsigamond on the Shrewsbury/Worcester line Boat ramp is on North Quinsig Ave, Shrewsbury, Main St. exit on I-290, head twords Worc, first left and about 1/2 mile down on the right. Sail up and have a soda with us at Regatta point Sailing club. Winds usually run light to moderate, except when we get northerlies, then we have some REAL fun.... Greg |
