882.0. "12-meter boats in Boston ??" by MPGS::BAILEY (May the 4 winds blow u safely home) Fri Jul 01 1988 09:02

    I overheard some talk last night about some of the former America's Cup
    boats being in Boston Harbor this week-end. Anybody else hear this, or
    have any information on it? Would it be worth cruising down to Boston
    Harbor (from Beverly) to watch?

    Just curious ...

882.1Turner vs Hood!!CASV01::THOMAS_EFri Jul 01 1988 09:1712
    recalled from las Snday's Globe...

    Ted Turner and Ted Hood (not sure but there may be others as well) will
    be racing each day this weekend in retired 12's. The boats will be
    based in Charlestown somewhere. The races are supposed to be viewable
    (more than visible?) from a number of downtown harbor locations. Coast
    Guard will be providing escort for the races.

    Look for me in a dark green Sea Sprite 23.

    Any idea on what time the racing will get underway? And what days?

882.3Maybe NOT this weekend!CASV01::THOMAS_EFri Jul 01 1988 15:3910
There was no eference to any 12 Meter activity in the Harbor in today's
    Sports Plus so I may have been wrong about this weekend. If so,
    Please accept my apologies!

    Have a good weekend!!

882.4GUN AT NOON MILVAX::HOFri Jul 01 1988 17:435
    The Boston Harbor patrol says that racing will start at noon Fri,
    Sat, and Sun in the vicinity of Deer Island. Most of the course
    will be in the inner harbor. As of now (4:45 Fri) they're still
    out there.
