765.0. "Little Harbor NH "Dockage"" by AIMHI::STOWELL () Wed Mar 16 1988 15:18

For anyone thinking of moving their boat up to New Hampshire, It's
getting bad up in Little Harbor. The company that bought out the
new Marina has brought the prices "out of sight", at least for
this area. They are getting $85 per ft for a slip, with a 36'
minimum charge. They also put in a new launch service. It is
$800 per year, and an additional $400 if you want to keep your
dingy at the docks. The hook here is the limited hours of
operation, and the fact that they have taken out the public
dock, almost forces you into the $1200.

I guess the best part is owning my mooring.

Your right. $85/ft sounds like a lot of money for NH. And, god knows I don't
wanna pay $85/ft. (but I am). But there are several reasons why it's
the best ddeal in town:

1) John Fenton will be dockmaster/slavedriver at Wentworth. (John has been
running Shipyard Quarters (Charlestown) since the beginning. For those of
you who have never stayed at Shipyard Quarters, it's the best run marina
in Boston, if not NE <period>)

2) "Things are being done RIGHT"! Wentworth will be a first class operation,
not just another mud hole with a couple of slips and a shower. They are
spending some serious money and it will show.

3) I don't care if Signal Corp. owns Wentworth, or Marpel Assoc., or DEC
for that matter. It's just my opinion, BUT! the best run/maintained
marinas are owned by a Corps. that have a vested interest in maintaining the
quality of marina. In Wentworth's case (and others), the vested interest
is the $300k-$500k condos with the 'lovely view of the marina' (oh how
romantic!!!)

My only point is you get what you pay for (sometimes!). There are cheaper
places to lease a slip, but not THAT much cheaper. Five/ten bucks a foot
more or less? I think it'll be worth it a Wentworth.

765.2Little Harbor questions.BOXORN::HAYSOf what is and what should never be...Fri Feb 07 1992 11:1813
I would like to learn more about how I could buy, rent or place a mooring in
Little Harbor NH.

What are the legalities of placing your own mooring in LH NH?

I looked in the yellow pages and didn't see a listing that looked like it would
be in Little Harbor. Is there a phone number for the Marina that?

It looks like the place to be on the New Hampshire coast. Any comments?

A mooring site in Little Harbor is obtained by contacting the Port
Authority in Portsmouth. There was and probably still a long list.

In a few years when your name comes up on the list you provide your own mooring.

Last year there were many unused moorings. It's not legal but you may beable
to find someone that will loan or rent their mooring.
