732.0. "Bayfield 36 Information" by BLAKLY::RADKE_HO () Mon Jan 18 1988 15:46

One of the sailboats that we are considering for living aboard now, and
cruising later is the Bayfield 36. Since the company and their line of
boats are not well known here on the west coast I thought that some of you
might help me out with some background information. Some of the questions
that we have are:

	- What reputation does the builder (or dealers) have?

	- What is the general impression of the quality of their products?

	- What other boats generally are comparable (Cape Dory 36, etc.)?

	- Any experience (direct or second-hand) with living aboard &/or
          sailing the Bayfield 36?

Any comments or observations about the company or the boat are welcome. If
you wish to respond off-line I can be reached at BLAKLY::RADKE_HO or @SEO.

	Thanks, Howard Radke - Seattle

For a first hand opinion you can send a stamped self-addressed envelope
to "another opinion, Cruising World, 524 Thames St., Newport, R.I.
02840. They will provide you with names of owners willing to provide
you info. Maybe helpful. Give them the name of the boat Bayfield
    and see what happens.

Bayfield Boats are made in Bayfield , Ontario, it is about 2 hours
    north of London Ont.

The builder is a man named Jake Rogison, he is an experienced seafarer
who's previous venture was a piece of C&C(before it went under).

The boats are known to be good for cruising, although my experience
on them is limited they seem like they'd be a pretty good place
    to live.
