Are there any Solent sailors out there ??

Do you fancy some offshore racing next season.

The JOG programme is listed below. We provide offshore racing
for small yachts ( up to about 38 feet ) with a series of races
of between 6 & 36 hours in duration. Boats with a current IOR or
Channel Handicap certificate are eligible. All races start from
Cowes on Friday evenings unless stated.

Further details are available from me or the secretary, Brian
Goulder on 0983 291572. Brian also maintains a crewing list for
people who want to sail but don't have a boat.

    Chris,
I sail a bilge keeler out of Chichester. Not sure about the
racing I would need to consult the other half . The list is certainly
useful simply knowing which harbours to stay out of because of the
    overcrowding situation during the season.

Lets hope the winds moderate so we can all get some winter sailing
    in.

Of those races mentioned, probably only the St Malo, Deuville &
Guernsey races have fleets big enough to congest the ports at the
other end. These are usually 100-150 boat fleets. The latter two
of these take place on bank holiday weekends so that adds to the
problem.( A more usual size of fleet is 20-30) The St Malo & Deauville
races are big because they are run in conjunction with other clubs
( Royal Southern & RORC resp. ), the Guernsey race because of their
wonderful hospitality and a free party at the other end. If you
are only doing one race, this is the one !!
