688.0. "Fuel Tank Modification" by USMRM1::GFALVELLA () Tue Nov 10 1987 11:09

I need to modify or replace my fuel tank and would appreciate any
recommendations anyone might have regarding this job.

This is an 8 gal., copper, cylindrical tank. The fuel supply line
currently exits from the bottom, and thus does not comply with CG
    requirements.

Does anyone know of a shop capable of relocating the fuel exit to
    the top of the tank?

Any suppliers of similiar tanks, but with the fuel exit at the top?

P.S. The supports are designed to cradle a cylindrical tank, so
I would prefer to modify the existing tank, or buy one with the same
    dimensions.

The fuel pump suction height is rated at 5 ft., so the
repositioning of the fuel exit line shouldn't interfere with engine
    performance.

    Any suggestions?

    George

I REPLACED MY STEEL TANK WITH A 12 GAL. RECTANGULAR MODEL, THIS
SPRING. IT COST $112.- AT THE MARINE EXCHANGE IN PEABODY. LIST
PRICE WAS +/_ $150.- IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY. IT'S GOT AN ELECTRIC
SENDER THAT WILL CONNECT TO A FUEL GAUGE AND WELDED NIPPLES FOR
INLET AND BREATER TUBES. THE DEALER ABOVE AS WELL AS MOST OF THE
DISCOUNT MAIL ORDER PLACES CARRY THE SAME TWO BRANDS. BOTH COME
IN A VARIETY OF SHAPES AND SIZES AND MATERIALS.
