671.0. "Crossing fronts" by DPDMAI::BEAZLEY () Mon Oct 19 1987 14:49
Yesterday while I was out sailing on a freshwater lake a cold front
passed over. I was in open water and the wind was from due south
with light capping. As the front passed I adjusted my direction
for 30-40 degrees, finally stalled and came about, starboard to
port without changing course. What a strange feeling!! The water
stopped capping and just oscillated in an up and down motion for
a minute then began capping from the north. The temperature
differential was about 10 degrees. There was a little rain, some
blustery winds, but nothing unmanageable. Was really strange, I
was just wondering if anyone else out there has had similar
experiences.
