    Look into City Boat at Newburyport, Ma.

    Last winter I stored my 23 LOA Lobster Boat for about $256.
    Engine winterization was about $45
    Battery storage and recharging was about $15.

    These figures are off the top of my head, but they are close.

    Regards

    Paul

634.2CORRECTION TO .2ABE::HASKELLMon Aug 31 1987 11:4340
    Guess what?

    I was way off in my guess in .2.

    Last year I paid $17 a foot (My boat is 21.5 ft)

    I just got this years agreement, u got it, big increase.
    This year City Boat is charging $22 per foot.

    Yankee Marine, just up the river is charging $2.25 per square foot
    (LOD x Beam).

    In either case, for my boat it will be $580 or there about.

    I say ther hell with that. I just called a Boat Transporting company.
    They will haul my boat to Nashua, N.H., provide 4 stands and blocks
    for $285. Return the boat to Newburyport for $225 in the spring.

    Looks like I'll be able to work on my boat at home and not have
    to drive the 50 miles each way in the spring.

    I feel that I can charge my own battery, and winterize my own engine
    for next to nothing, compared to what the yards charge.

    I had to cover my own boat last year as the yard never got around
    to it. I have my own cover.

    There is no doubt that this is what I'm going to do. In the end,
    it will still be less expensive than leaving the boat in a yard.

    Good luck

    Paul

    I haven,t heard you on the radio this year Jim, are you still in
    the Merriack River, or have you moved to a different location?

    Regards

     The cost to store my 25' sloop has gone from;
                1985 - $400.00
                1986 - $462.50   Delta  $62.30
                1987 - $587.50         $125.00
                1988 - $625.00          $37.50

     In general I have to rate the yard very highly, and this last year
     they added more electrical and water outlets around the yard so you
     didn't have to have 200' of garden hose to get water.

634.4Looking for storage in Narragansett BayECAD2::FINNERTYTue Aug 30 1988 16:0313

    It's gotten much worse on the RI coast, too. Ram Point Marina in
    Wakefield has upped their rates to 35 $/ft for outside storage,
    not including stepping/unstepping the mast. For a 25' sloop, this
    means about $850 this year instead of about $550 last year.

    Can anyone recommend marina's in Narragansett Bay that are less
    than $35/ft, which don't require stepping/unstepping, and which
    have space left?
