| Thanks for the pointer I will call Lowry Lamb. Will try and remember
to report back the results of the restoration. So far only about
8 feet of rotted keel and a couple of frames need to be replaced.
Speaking of rotted keel anybody have a suggestion about where I
can get 8 to 12 feet of 2x6 oak. The oak for the frames was easy
to find.

| S.O.S. ( Save Old Snipes )
Forrest, I accessed this conference on 1007 so I'll not
repeat useless details. Wish to know if and how the restore
of the old Snipe went on (my one is "only" 1967 sail 16441).
The older one my father sold 2 months ago was 13914 and is
under restore at present.
I'm looking for infos about Snipe Class story and I'm asking for
any persons who want to tell me Snipe's stories as I mind to
write an issue on the matter. All infos, stories, pictures
(if possible) and so on will be rewarded ( in Heaven, I'm
afraid!!!). Are you planning regatas with yours?
Are you aware of other Old Snipers interested to ask and receive
questions?

585.6 | SNIPES alive and well in Peoria | POBOX::FEIGLE | Sales Consultant: attacking the 'hill' | Tue Jun 25 1991 00:56 | 14 |
| I've had a SNIPE for 10 years. But it's only been sailable since
restored about 4 years ago. If anyone is interested about SNIPEs, line
the person in (-.1), then "we should talk".
Peoria was the home of the largest SNIPE fleet in the U.S. Now there
are but 2 or 3 left. My sail number is 3 digits, and my hull number is
10568 (carved into the inside of the hull).
While a wonder of a wooden boat, Peoria has replaced them with Capri
22s, all flying winged keels (Peoria Lake is wide, but avg depth is 4
feet). Peoria was just the home of the Capri Eastern Nationals- won by
some Anapolis graduates hailing from North Carolina.
