550.1 | Are there any companies in the Fortune 500? | CSSE::COUTURE | | Wed May 13 1987 13:27 | 9 |
| That's kind of a broad question, isn't it? There are organizations
like Community Sailing that exist for instructional purposes. There
are local chapters of owner-associations (Catalina 30 Assn.). There
are yacht clubs in any location and price range you can imagine. If
you couldbe a little more specific about what you're looking for,
I'm sure lots of people would jump in.

550.2 | SAILING CLUB IN BOSTON | RDVAX::MCCAFFREY | | Tue May 26 1987 13:02 | 8 |
| IF YOU DON'T MIND SAILING IN THE CHARLES RIVER OR IN BOSTON HARBOUR,
I CAN THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND THE NON-PROFIT SAILING CLUB IN BOSTON--
COMMUNITY BOATING INC. (CBI) DOWN BY THE HATCHSHELL ON THE ESPLANADE.
THEY PROVIDE INSTRUCTION ON DIFFERENT CLASSES OF BOATS AS WELL AS
COMPETITION.

| There is also the Boston Harbor Sailing Club, which allows you to
use their fleet of boats, Soilings , J24 and some others can't
remember. And provide a basic through advance saling lessons.
If you want more information send mail.

550.4 | We like Boston Harbor Sailing Club | VISHNU::GRANVILLE | Art Granville, DME Quality Ed. | Wed Jun 03 1987 19:17 | 22 |
| I learned to sail two years ago at the Boston Harbor Sailing Club and
rejoined this year. They have a good staff, a large fleet, and charge
a lot less than I'd have to pay to buy and keep my own boat. The main
disadvantage is finding a parking space near the Boston waterfront.
(We try to go out early on Sunday, when there are still vacant spots
and you don't have to feed the meter.) These are the boats in their
fleet: Soling 27, Pearson 26, Albin 28, J29, and Scampi (28?).
They offer a variety of courses from introductory sailing to celestial
navigation. Some of the courses allow you private sailing privileges.
You can also pay an annual fee for the use of the boats. The fee
depends on which class of boat you choose. To use a boat, you make a
reservation a week ahead of time. If there are more requests than
there are boats, they use a lottery system. However, we've gotten a
Pearson 26 every Sunday for the last 6 weeks, so the system has worked
fine for us thus far. Extended cruising is also permitted, though we
haven't tried that.
The club is located off of Atlantic Avenue between the Aquarium and
the twin Harbor Towers buildings. Their number, if you want to call,
is 523-2619.

550.5 | Late Notice, but... | TOPDOC::AHERN | Dennis the Menace | Fri Apr 28 1989 14:12 | 10 |
| I just noticed a brief calendar listing in the local paper. It seems
that the Boston Sailing Center is having an open house this weekend,
offering "rides" along the waterfront near their club headquarters at
54 Lewis Wharf from 1-6 p.m. both days.
If foul weather it will be postponed to the following weekend.
Call (617) 227-4198 for info.
