    Every year for the past 11 years Mystic Seaport has held a weekend
    event called the Small Craft Workshop. This year the event is June
    6 and 7 and registratoin forms are now available by writing or calling
    Mystic Seaport Museum.
    
    The event is aimed at 'traditional' boats for rowing, paddiling
    or sail (although Ill be taking a dory with a one-lung engine and
    there was a steamer there last year). The basic format is about
    100-125 boats in the water and basically open use of all the boats.
    You simply find a boat you like, ask the owner for permission and
    row/paddle or sail around. In the afternoon several workshops are
    held on various topics like rowing technique and various building
    techniques. Saturday evening there will be a slide show or talk
    and Sunday morining we all 'cruise' together to an island in the
    sound for coffee and a gam. Sunday afternoon the storage sheds are
    open to inspect all the boats that are not normally open to the
    public. 
    
    All  in all I find it one of my best weekends of the year. They
    do have a limit on the number of registrants so if you are interested
    sign up soon.
