| MarGin is a 1978 Hobie 16 with Tequlia Sunrise sails. It lives
on a beach in the southwest part of Lake Griffin near Leesburg,
Florida where I live and sometimes work.
My house is a few hundred yards up the shore from where I keep my boats
which is the reason that I live here in Florida. I have a racing
single scull (Kascpher 1971) and a 16 foot canoe so I am all set no
matter what the wind.
I normally single hand the Hobie so I don't have a radio call sign
given that both hands and feet are full when I'm out on the trap
screaming across the gators out on the lake. Of course, most VHF
sets aren't designed to take the kind of fun only available on a
cat.
Once you sail on a cat you don't want to back to a monohull,

| "STEEL STRINGS"
Cape Dory Typhoon with sail logo of TY (just like all the rest),
an older (1973) weekender model that has yet to carry me out for
a weekend. Usually daysailing outside of Salem Sound or inside
on light air days. Mooring is at Salem Willows Y.C. on the Danvers
River. Usually sailing with a friend or two and (when lucky) my
nine year old daughter who I fashion as my sailing buddy.
True story about the name. I played guitar with a couple of friends
at one time and noticed their playing was louder and bluesier with
steel strings than I could produce with my Brasilian classical.
So off I went to the music store to get steel strings.
"Won't work on that guitar. It'll pull the bridge off. What you need is a
new guitar like this Yamaha over her." Looking through the $150-300
models and got thinking the "Want Advertiser" might have a second
hand one for a lot less.
So I got that week's copy, looked through the guitar section and then
thought, "Wonder if there are any good deals on ......."
The name was a natural outcome.

CAVATINA - Maxi 84 (28'), sail # 410.
Crew: Marit and Knut. Late July/first August a new crew member will
hopefully join in.
Maxi (swedish) is a very common boatmodel in Northern Europe. It's
our fist boat and we have had it for one year now.
We mostly sail in the inner parts of Oslofjorden. Weekends we try
to reach as far out of the fjord as possible.
The area is very good for sailing, especially for newcombers
the fjord is a nice sailground.
Last summerholiday we sailed down the south coast of Norway to Arendal.
This year our holiday will be shorter, we'll probably have a short
trip down the coast to Sweden.
Sailors from Oslo mostly go either down the south coast of Norway
or down the east coast of Sweden, may be combined with a trip over
to Denmark, in their holidays.
If someone should be around feel free to contact me. My VHF number
is LN4738.
- Happy sailing -

My wife, 1 yr old daughter, our dog an I liveaboard year round at
Constitution Marina in Charlestown and love it. It's time to start
thinking about a bigger one, though.
Sailing grounds are Boston Harbor, Mass. Bay and Cape.
Spend most of my time fixing instead of sailing. Bought it as a
handyman special in order to gain experience for my next project
which is to restore turn of the century schooner or Maine Coaster.
Next time, though, I won't try to live on it while I'm restoring.
Next year I plan on getting out more. I want to try going north
of Boston for a change.

492.50 | CIRCE | HAMPS::GOUGH | | Mon Nov 02 1987 10:34 | 12 |
| MOODY 28 - 28 ft Bilge Keeler
We (Pete & Jackie) sail out of Chichester Harbour on South Coast
of UK. We have had CIRCE for just over a year. We weekend cruise
in the Solent area and in August made it over to St Malo on the
French coast via the Channel Islands. [CIRCE was a classical Greek
Godess who occasionally turned men into swine, nothing to do with
my skippering.....] We are still hoping for a season that we don't
spend sailing in our foul weather gear.

CAPRICE-Geoff Burr
47' Teak Ketch
This will be our first summer moored in the Harpswell, ME area in
the cove between East and West Cundy's Point (behind Rogue Island).
Caprice is a German designed heavy displacement ketch built in
Indonesia in 1962. She has been around the world 2 1/2 times (not
with me) and is in the process of being restored. Assuming that
we do get her in the water sometime this year, our cruising grounds
will be the Isles of Shoals to Bar Harbor.
Give us a shout!

| EHECATL - 1983 WATKINS 27
Moored in Salem Harbor (Pickering Wharf). I'm easy to spot
with a beige hull, brown sail cover and dodger. Stop by!
If not cruising around Mass. Bay, I'll be sitting on the mooring
drinking too much beer.
For anyone wondering about the name. Ehecatl is the second sign
of the Aztec calendar, meaning wind. Those who were born under this
sign were prophesied to be fickle, inconsistent, lazy, enemies of
toil, addicted to merrymaking, rovers with no roots nor rest.
Sure seems appropriate:-)

Just bought the boat last week. A couple of days working on
the hull and it'll be ready for the water. This year the boat
will be kept in Apponagansett Bay (South Dart. Mass). I'll be
found anywhere in Buzzards Bay down to the Vineyard. Look for
the yellow baseball cap with Cap'n Zigzag on the brow. Will be
flying one flag with a crooked line on it (the zigzag flag) and
another with a big parrothead on it. It won't be mistaken for
anything else. Hope to see you there.

| Orsera (Snipe class dinghy) sail # 16411 (or 16441?), built 1967.
(she's beeen told as the most beautyful dinghy on the Lake)
light metal green hull, black sides, white waterline and small
white snipes on the fore sides; mahogany for the upper part;
silver spruce mast.
You can find Arrigo (and sometimes see a blonde head emerging
from the cockpit: is Cinthia) on Bracciano Lake (NW of Rome).
Pls, whistle, shout, and what else you like and we'll be pleased
to host you aboard and at home (we have a good double bed guest
room). Though I don't consider myself a good helmsman I'm a good
cook and, you know, after God comes the Captain but after him
there's the cook!
Pls, note: a survey is scheduled mid/end September by Ed Siegman.
Bye all.
Arrigo / Cinthia
