For anyone interested in linking a loran in with their electronics...
I am installing a Datamarine Link 5100 system on my boat and wanted
to hook up the Micrologic 8000 I got for Christmas to it. The
ML documentation says its compatable, and the sales people sure
say it is, but I called Micrologic and got the straight scoop.
You need a special version of the ML 8000, the 8000-S (which is NMEA
and 0183) compatable. It runs about $100 more than the basic 8000,
which is currently a pretty hot seller. Rather than return
it (since the price went up) I'm having Micrologic upgrade it.
I'm happy with the loran, but wish I'd known up front...

I am still puzzled a bit by the standards mentioned by Rick for
interfacing all this stuff. I asked a year ago, and will ask again:
Any one know where to find a list of these standards ?
I would like to make a remote for my Loran, and a L/C:autopilot
interface one of these days.
