362.0. "Valbonne sailing" by MADMAC::HEYER () Thu Jul 17 1986 13:52

    			Hi sailors,

    	Lets introduce myself...
I'm Christian-Jacques Heyer from Valbonne remote diagnostic
center in Valbonne (France, french riviera..)
I am myself sailing around since I joined Valbonne ,on
my own and also with the Valbonne sailing club.
Boats are rented and are generally Sun legende 41, Sun kiss,
Sun shine or similars. I myself owned an aluminium boat which was
    a Stark 100 , centerboard boat.
I am very interested if anybody could send me American
or any English writen magazine like 'Yachting' or similar. In exchange
we could send magazines like 'Bateaux' or 'Voiles et Voiliers' which
    are unfortunately in French.

    	Address is following... Christian-Jacques HEYER

362.1SAILING WORLD Subscription?CSSE32::BLAISDELLFri Jul 18 1986 02:2075
Welcome!

Would you consider subscribing to a U.S. magazine? Assuming that's a
possibility, I'm going to make a recommendation and perhaps others would like
to offer theirs.

Since I've been sailing, I've subscribed to various sailing magazines; but I
presently subscribe to (and collect) only one: SAILING WORLD. This magazine,
formerly named YACHT RACING/CRUISING and before that ONE-DESIGN YACHTSMAN, has
held my interest for over ten years. The emphasis of this magazine is on
sailing performance: boat tuning, sail shape, and racing. Boats typically
featured in the magazine include one-design keelboats (eg. J24), one-design
dinghys (eg. Lasers and Olympic classes), and performance cruisers.

If this sounds like your kind of sailing, then I recommend you subscribe,
perhaps together with your friends. The subscription form I'm looking at says
it would cost you: $21.75 1 year, $37.00 2 years, or $45.00 3 years plus $12.00
per year postage outside of U.S. and Cananda. They specify that subscriptions
be paid in U.S. dollars only. The subscription address is

	SAILING WORLD
	401 N. Broad Street

I fully second Bob's reply. I used to subscribe for about 4 years to the
magazine in the days where it was still called "ONE DESIGN ...". It's by
far the best sailing magazine for anyone interested in racing (all kinds)
or offshore sailing. It even covers the major European events, which is
realy unusual for a US magazine.

If you don't want to subscribe (although at the current Dollar exchange rate
it's a real bargain !!!) you can usually find it all major airports and maybe
even in Nice.

Thanks a lot for your inputs. I'll try first to get
it aroud the airport and If not available, I 'll plan to order it
    from Philadelphia.
