A friend is trying to sell me his 27' Morgan and although i'm only toying with the idea, i thought i would see what impressions people have of Morgans. The price seems right and the boat has a large inventory of goodies. As i said, i'm only toying with the idea for next spring.

Is this the small Out Island model? My wife and I chartered one of those for a week in Florida several years ago. It was a comfotable boat for the two of us. Plenty of room and storage. The only complaint we had was that it wouldn't go to weaather very well. There were two contributing factors, the hull design itself and a fairly slack headstay with roller furling genny. One comment on buying from a friend... It might test your relationship! Ed | |||||

If you want to pursue it further (with all the time you've got) I'd suggest picking up a copy of Cruising World magazine. There is a monthly feature called "Another Opinion" listing an oceanful of different boats. Specify your interest (can be more than one brand) when writing in and they will return a list of volunteers who own and will recommend (good & bad) respective to their boat. I have not personally used this reader service, but think it's worth checking into if your looking for firsthand advice from someone who actually owns the boat you're considering. |
