307.0. "Favorite Catamaran Haunts Survey" by BAHAMA::RYAN () Thu May 15 1986 18:39
I'm returning to laser/catamaran sailing after a season of
owning/cruising larger monohulls. Since I know coastal N.E.
from a cruiser's perspective (that is, deeper than my 4' draft),
I'm specifically interested in learning more about favorite
catamaran haunts: good beaches, good launching facilities, winds,
nearby camping facilities, etc. Naturally, negative information
is just as important as the good. I'm interested in both large
lakes in N.H. and bay/ocean sailing.
Any and all information would be appreciated.

Check out note 298. Most of the regattas are in excellent spots
but then the organisation helps. Personally I love Pleasant bay
to fly hulls and muck about in, the water there is so warm going
over is even fun.
I found that the Sailors Almanack (from Bliss) is an excellent
book for locations. They list all the slips in N.E. and quote if
there are any costs for launching/restrictions.
If it is a Hobie you have why not consider racing with a fleet.
You certainly get some great places to sail with the support of
safety boats and you do learn a lot. A few of us are going tomorrow
to Greenwich R.I. for a 2 day regatta. If you want directions just
send me mail.
Bill.
