197.3 | Questions about Great Bay Marine | BOXORN::HAYS | Of what is and what should never be... | Mon Feb 10 1992 14:49 | 22 |
I called Great Bay Marine, and asked about moorings. They are asking $700 for a mooring. I have some questions for someone that knows the area: 1) I know that the river through Portsmouth has 8 knot tidal currents. How much current is in the area of Great Bay's moorings? Enough to make rowing to and from the mooring impractical? 2) Is there a weekday PHRF racing program on Great Bay? Is Great Bay a pleasant place to spend a few hours cruising around on? 3) I've heard rumors that there is a weekday PHRF program out of Portsmouth. Only problem is the hour or more delay (to wait_for_the_tide_to_turn and/or the bridges to open plus being ~8 miles inland) getting out there. Any comments? Are there other mooring options worth looking at in the Portsmouth NH area? Phil |
