108.0. "Sailboat rental" by MILOS::JONES () Fri May 03 1985 16:41

Is there anyplace anybody knows of within a 100 mile radius of Nashua N.H. that
a person could rent a sailboat for the day? I am looking for a 2-4 person size
boat. Especially desirable would be a Hobie Cat. I have heard rumors about
lakes around Laconia and Boston but I can't find any facts. Thanks.

Regatta point at Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester has O'Day 14' Javelins for
rent and sailing school. Javelins have a main and a jib with about 110 sq ft of
sail. They fit four comfortably and have an ice locker if things get thirsty.

Quinsigamond doesn't exactly offer the same kind of wind as the Atlantic
coast, but its not bad for an afternoon on a breezy day.

You could try Fay's Boat yard in Guilford N.H. He used to rent sailboats
on Winnipausaki (sp).

THERE ARE A NUMBER OF PLACES AROUND LAKE WINNEPESAUKEE NEAR LACONIA
AND GILFORD, WHERE THEY RENT SMALL SAILBOATS AND SAILBOARDS, FAYE'S
BOAT YARD IN GILFORD DOES STILL RENT, THAT IS WHERE MY BOAT IS SLIPPED.
ALSO, A GOOD PLACE TO LOOK WOULD BE WOLFBORO,N.H.

There are two places in NH that I know of:

1. DeVost's Marina in Bristol (Newfound Lake) They have a variety of
   boats, including Hobie Cats

2. Squam Sailing Center (Holderness) - usually has Spindrift Daysailers

108.5Looking for Hobie rentalCLT::MCKIEStartin' with the (wo)man in the mirror...Wed Jul 27 1988 15:259
I would like to re-open the topic question. I'm looking for a place
to rent a Hobie Cat, within a "reasonable" distance of Nashua, NH.
I'll pursue the suggestion in Bristol. Does anyone have more
    up-to-date information?

the biggest problem is that the Hobies (other than the 14) have
quite a bit of rigging. It is much easier to rent sunfishes to
people because they go together much easier.

You might try calling Wilderness Sports on Rt101 in Amherst/hollis.
They sell them, and may know of such a place. The only place I know that
rents them is on the Cape near Chatham. A bit of drive unless you
are going to sail on Pleasant Bay.

You may also try calling NH Hobie Cat in Seabrook. They may be able
to direct you to someone who rents them.

Not strictly rental, but an offshoot I suppose. I just picked up
a brochure on Sail NH. It was founded in 1991. From the brochure
    it says the following:

For $800 a season, beginning in the middle of May and ending
in the middle of October, you can have unlimited access to
Lake Winnipesaukee. This fee is all inclusive of use, storage
and maintenance of the SAIL NH fleet. Come join us and SAIL
NEW HAMPSHIRE, "an alternative to ownership."

For information call Mike Weisberg at 603-293-8000. The fleet consists
of J-22 fixed keel sailboats and membership, but not usage, is limited.

When I looked into this in 1991, you could only get a 1/2 day (morning
8-12 or afternoon 1-5) at a time. Weekdays were virtually unlimited,
    weekends had some limitations.
