| Are there rental places on Winnepasauki? I would think they
would be cheaper than ocean places.

| There are rental places on Winnipasaukee.
Fay's Boatyard in Glendale (part of Gilford I think) is a name which I
have been given. I understand that he gets $60 for a half day for boats
in teh mid-20 foot range. Irwin Marine in Lakeport seems to be one of the
major Marinas[A
[A
with the best stock of goodies.
To follow up my original note - the registration requirement for
sail only boats over 12' doesn't go into effect until July 1st.

| A note on sort of bypassing the rules... If you are in New Hampshire,
you should consider getting any coast guard numbers (ocean sailing)
from Maine. By doing this, you then can sail on any other state's lakes.
If you have NH numbers, due to the lack of retroprocity, the other states
will not allow you to sail on their lakes. Mass will charge you a high
usage tax if you register there, and from what I have heard, Maine does
not (if you don't live there). You still have to buy your NH usage sticker,
but by having the ME numbers on the front, can sail in Maine and Mass lakes.

| My name is Don Soule. I have been sailing a COMPAC 16 up on the big lake for thepast 7 years. I have a mooring (@ $27.50 per foot) at Goodhue & Hawkins in
Wolfboro which we have found to be one of the better places on the lake. I can
give anyone more info and am interested in finding out where BF keeps his boat.
Anyone ever hear of DECsail?

| Regarding registrations, as mentioned for NH inland operation you obtain
registration in NH from any marina. Most other states do not have
reciprocity with NH, (Florida does). For NH costal waters and anywhere
else, you register with the Coast Guard in Boston. They give you letters
NH nnnn, there is no need to go to Maine or to worry about Mass tax.
Apparently in the old days the Coast Guard used to do all boat registrations
until many states saw the potential revenue. Also note, it you wish to
operate in both NH coastal and inland waters you require both type of
registrations.

I notice this reply is dated 1984. I have a O'Day Daysailer which is
registered in NH. How do I go about dropping this in the water in Ma?
If there are no problems, where are there small lakes I could access
from a public boat ramp in the Maynard area.

17.7 | Is there a motor on your boat? | MILKWY::HEADSL::SAMPSON | Driven by the wind | Mon Aug 29 1994 10:56 | 10 |
| If you don't have a motor on your boat you can put in in anywhere
that boats are allowed. When I used to sail my 470 I went through this search
to understand what kind or registration I needed. Without a motor, the only
place I would have had to register my boat was in New Hampshire. If you
have a motor, I think your NH registration is enough.
However, I don't know of any good lakes in the Maynard area to put
it in.
Happy sailing
